2014 Youth Trek Photos

On July 20 and 21st a group of 25 youth from the Santa Monica Stake were joined by the Stake Presidency, Stake YM and YW Presidency, and other stake and ward leaders at Riley Farm in Yucaipa. Here we enjoyed a two day, 6 mile handcart Trek with the Moreno Valley and Newbury Park stakes. The youth were divided up into three families, The Hansens, The Bolanders and The Fishers. As we dressed in pioneer clothing, pulled handcarts up hills, down hills and across rivers we were met by various re-enactments of church history and early pioneer characters who taught actual pioneer skills and important spiritual lessons. It was an event that will leave a lasting impression on all who attend. We look forward to doing this again in the next few years with the hope that all of the youth in the stake can have this experience at some point in their youth.
